Being a Christian

Some of the things that the Lord has been whispering to my heart is being like Him. We are called to be like Him. How can we know what He is like unless we read and study His word for ourselves? Sometimes I hesitate to call myself a “Christian” because I know that everybody has their own idea of what a “Christian is or isn’t”. Chances are good that I don’t fit that image. I don’t want to live my life bound to some “list of do’s and don’ts”

God is so unique in His creation, so why should we expect that “Christians” should be all the same?

I want to be known as a “follower of Christ”. Life and freedom is found in Him – not in some dead list.

The more I read of Jesus, the more I want to imitate Him - out of love, not obligation.

Several years ago I decided I didn't want to be called a christian, either. I was calling myself a believer when a brother challenged me on that one with the familiar scripture about the devils believing. I asked my Father what He wants us called and He told me "redeemed." We are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. When we call ourselves redeemed, we are acknowledging our inablility to save ourselves and honoring Yeshua(Jesus)'s blood-sacrifice for us. So now when I ask someone if they are redeemed, I can be pretty certain by their answer if they know our Redeemer or not. Nominal christians have no idea what you are really talking about. Anyway, I read your comment on Marcel's site and figured that here was another brother. Reading what you wrote here showed me that was the truth. May G-d bless you.
Shalom,
Serena
